WHAT IS GOLDEN FEELINGS?
Golden feelings is the solo musical project of Dustin Krcatovich (who is also a graphic designer, DJ, and former music writer). Krcatovich first began to delve into immersive ambient psychedelic and new age music at home in Portland, Oregon in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The project came to full fruition after a move to his home state of Michigan later that year.
Perhaps owing in part to the horrors of its time of origin, the primary intention of the Golden Feelings project has always been healing, be it emotional, spiritual, or mental. Early efforts were an outgrowth of Krcatovich’s previous experimental music project Skin Lies, but where Skin Lies could occasionally be dissonant and alienating, Golden Feelings has always been dedicated to the mission of making “feel-good” music for all open-minded comers.
All Golden Feelings music is tuned to 432 Hz (the “chakra-aligning” frequency). Its disregard for conventional notions of structure and repetition is inspired in part by Steven Halpern’s idea of “Scalus Interruptus“, the notion that popular music’s standard patterns keep us bouncing between the past and the future, never living in the now.
Golden Feelings music, then, is ideal for circumstances that call for an abandonment of typical notions of time. Feedback from listeners provides anecdotal evidence that this music enhances meditation, focus, relaxation, and psychedelic experiences.
